CHEFMATE Chefmate Can Opener

Worst can opener ever.
I bought this at Target and they no longer appear at Target online. Only 1 is left at Amazon. I assume they are taking this off the market because it simply does not work.

I don't know how you could screw up such a simple device, but they certainly managed to do so. I have never left a bad review before, but this can opener is SUCH a waste of $14.00 that I have felt an obligation to unsuspecting consumers everywhere to voice my experience. I ended up using my dollar store hand opener every time I would attempt to use it. Having a problem with my hands now and then, I found this nonfunctioning chunk of material sitting on my counter staring at me to be particularly infuriating. I do not know how any mechanical designer or engineer who had anything to do with its design can sleep at night, that is unless designing such a piece of worthless junk is some kind of evil fun to them.

With great difficulty, this thing would puncture the can and then...well that was about...

works just fine for me
I have owned one of these since my sophomore year in college in 2005. and it has served me faithfully for 7 years. It took a bit to get used to and I think the bad reviews may well be because you do have to place the can just right. But it worked 100% of the time for me for a very long time.

However it has died and I am now looking to get a new one. Looking at all the options.

I just wanted to make sure that people realize this product can work just fine if you are using it properly.

Does Not Work
This is the worst piece of junk I've ever used. I have yet to see it successfully open a can.
